looking out my window and seeing falling snow.
I started with a print of a winter landscape ( it was a part of a letter we got from the car dealership for christmas) that I glued to my pages and used acrylic, soft pastels and watercolor pencils for drawing the face and framing the landscape.
My journaling was written with Pitt artist pen.

I took a post from 2012- I was busy with binding journals using the coptic stitch at this time.
The original post where you can see more from this journal can be found HERE.
Fabulous, great recycling, - love the landscape background and the face looks so beautiful and serene!

OK Susi, you inspired me to go through my Christmas cards and see if there is one (or more) I can use as a background for a winter wonderland. You are SUCH an inspiration to me.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, I love the face and I ADORE the background. You are so clever.
Speaking of clever, I am in awe of your coptic binding. But I'm even more impressed with your stamping and doodling skills. Thank you for bringing this Second look back for us on the 2nd.
BTW, my computer and internet are SO slow tonight, there was only ONE comment when I got here and read both posts.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great face and good composition. Love the soft colouring. Adore hand made journals ... so much fun. Enjoyed your post today. hugs, Donna

Beautiful and magical artwork and what a lovely face.
ReplyDeleteI love watching falling snow too, but wish sometimes it wouldn't fall on the roads and pavements and make thing slippery. Have you got snow at present?
your journal was amazing too.
Have a great day.... Gill x
This really is wonderful Susi! A true feeling of first snow! The face has such a calm look! I love the bicuity(is that a word?) appearance of the cover of your second look book! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteWhat at a clever way to create your background. It looks so pretty and rural and what a snowfall should be like. Quiet, peaceful...not the shoveling, the plows, the dirty snow...ha-ha. Hope you are enjoying your weekend and day 2 of the new year! Thanks for the nice comments!
ReplyDeleteYour winter page is stunning! We never receive ads as pretty as that snow scene--although, like Elizabeth, I have already grabbed a few Christmas cards to recycle!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your 2nd Look coptic stitch journal--lovely!
I love the portraits gaze, like she's contemplating a situation and what she plans to do. Maybe 2016 is her year! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful page Susi with great use of the blurb. Love the face which lifts the whole piece to an even higher level
ReplyDeleteWent to visit your old post which is amazing
Love Chrissie xx
Such a beautiful landscape. You are lucky to have snow!
ReplyDeleteWe still have warm weather and rain.
Happy PPF
Oh Susi, this is beautiful! I adore cold, snowy scenes, and your face just sets it all off.
ReplyDeleteDo you like the Coptic binding? I've read about it and started to try it, looks very time consuming and not as tight as I "think" I would like. Your opinion is very important to me.
Thanks
It was a super background to use for the beautiful face you added today. lovely words as well.

Love this Susi and I just adore the way you recycle everything. Here's to a wonderful 2016 to you filled with loads of crafty goodness ;)

I really do love your winter posts! so beautiful! How clever to use that piece of ad!! It looks great! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove the collage for AJJ so much even though that wasn't why I originally showed up. :) Your book for Second on the 2nd is fab!!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant use of that advertisement and the addition of your lovely lady Susi!
ReplyDeleteSo far I have only been "thinking" about winter...not much time to play in my art cave with husband home for the long weekend.
Soon...

It's great to be able to use what others might just discard in the trash! I just love the magical look that car advertisement has given your journal page! I love the tender and subtle beauty of this face too. Wishing you a creative and a Happy New Year, Susi. xxx
ReplyDeleteThis one is stunning... I love how the landscape melts in to her face. And the journal is wonderful too - I'm hoping (against hope) to fit in some experiments with book binding this year, though it won't be until the later months. Spring is already too busy!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Lovely face over the snow scene! Have a wonderful artistic year in 2016!
