TIOT meets AJJ , MMM , 99 Faces and TSFT

Our new theme over at Try It On Tuesday is:

Spots , Splashes  and Dots

my spread is also meant for the"Journeys" theme at Art Journal Journey

and linked to
"Quotes" at Moo Mania & More.

and pinned to  99 FACES (96)

Hello to all my friends at TSFT -
I always forget my camera at home when we meet with friends to have dinner outside, but on
May 1th we made a little trip with friends to a big fleamarket and "Volkswagen" Meeting in
Eggenburg (Lower Austria) and I thought about my camera.

I enjoyed the fleamarket

After the fleamarket, where we didn't buy anything, but loved to look at all the nice old things
we had fun at the VW ( manly VW beetle ) meeting....

I felt in love with the seablue model from 1966 as we had exactly the same car as I was a young kid.

I loved this special beetle covered all over with Austrian postage stamps  (2400 stamps!)

And those faux rusted Porsche .. amazing real .. you had to go near to see that it just was a special foil - fabulous!

After  all this we were very hungry and visited a  restaurant where we enjoyed
Schnitzel , Lights ( yes - my friend Herta - left behind the big coke) took "Beuschel"  with bread dumplings - we call that "Beuschel mit Knödel" - something you don't get often nowadays in restaurants here - an old  viennese speciality)

and I had boiled beef with  horseradish with apples, potatoes and vegetable - one of my big favourite meals ever..sorry Elizabeth
all this is not meant for you as a vegetarian .. really sorry - forgive us.

Thank you for visiting froebelsternchen!!!

  1. Wow, Susi, you covered every base there is today. Very impressive a great way to make up for lost time. That face is wonderful, and those "splats" really DO look like spots or dots.

That flea market was very enjoyable to see. I'm amazed at the goodies people get rid of. It was all so fun to peruse and I enjoyed it as much as I'm sure you did!

OK, your meal looks disgusting! BUT, as long as YOU were happy with it, that's all that matters.

I LOVED those old Beetles. I have a friend who has one to this day that looks the same style as the red and blue one. And my heart went pitter patter when I saw that rusty (faux rust) Porsche. Golly, even up close it looked real!

Thanks for sharing your great art, the flea market, and your meal and drinks with us for T this Tuesday.

  2. Guten Morgen Susi,
    Lg Sadie

  18. You have a knack for skillfully and artfully combining those challenges!!
I wish I had been there for the VW's!!! My dad used to buy, fix up and sell VW's when I was a kid. My 3 of my first 4 cars were bugs, then I had a couple of VW Rabbits. Mr. G and I even had a VW pickup truck when we were first married. Our car died and my dad gifted us with the pickup. :)
    Happy T day!

  24. What a lovely time you had...thank you for sharing the photos of all of the fun treasures and oh those beetle bugs!!!
We are a VW family on both sides that goes back years and years.
My Onkel Sepp and Onkel Zeno studied in Germany and moved to the US and opened a VW garage. I could go on and on. Mr M will enjoy your post later on too. The postage stamp one and that cool faux rust!!!!
He was always a Carmen Ghia guy and enjoyed working on VW engines too. That was years ago...oh how time flies.
I could have made a meal of those beautiful veggies and knodel ♥
    Happy T Day
It is so much fun to see some of your surroundings.
Oh and with all of your challenge abbreviations what a brain massage *gg*

  25. I enjoyed reading your post and looking at the photos of your outing. The fleamarket looks fun with all those old things. And the VW meeting would also be somethingI'd enjoy. I love Beetles, although I never had one. I spotted one with the split back window, which means it's probably the oldest one there.
I did a double take when I saw that Porsche! It looks very realistic.
Your meal looks delicious. (I'm not a vegetarian). I love a good schnitzel and in Austria they do them very well. I know what Knödel are but Beuschel? No idea.... (the photo does not give much of a clue).
    Thank you for visiting,
    Happy T-day,
    Lisca

  35. Beautiful journal spread, fun fair, old bugs, and a good meal--wow!
My dad had a Beetle when we were kids in the 60s. I loved that little car--except when we traveled cross country with three kids in the back seat! ;)

  36. What a stunning page spread, Susi - the face is magnificent, with such life in the expression, and I love the dramatic black spatter.

I've always been a huge Beetle-lover, so that's my favourite bit of the flea-market, though it looks as though there were lots of interesting things - and delicious schnitzel too!

  37. How fun! I love your page, love all of the pics from the flea market. The VW's- we do not see too many beetles on the roads now a days.... so fun to see this collection of them, and love the one with the postage stamps : ) My family had a VW van when I learned how to drive, so learned on a stick shift...... Your dinner looks delightful! Looks like a fab day!
