A trip to the young bulls .....

We visited a farm recently where they bring up young bulls nearby. I haven't seen such a farm yet. All is super clean and there are two big stalls with many young bulls. It made me a bit sad. They get their milk and food computer generated.... poor boys. The chip on their ears tells the machine mum which one is allowed to drink and which one has enough already.
The farmer showed all to us ... they have also normal breeding, where the littles are with their mothers - but this seems to be the more efficient way to bring up bulls. I was a bit sad and I decided once more to eat even less meat.

the older boys are very impressive

and most impressive is the BIG tractor

I painted a young bull in Mixed Media

My heart goes out to you - little bull!

Happy new week ahead - thank you for calling in again today!

I used some autumnal colours for my painting - so it is meant for

Indian Summer / Golden October / Autumn

and I will add it to

  1. Hallo Susi,
    LG Sadie

  2. HI Susi, I am also very concerned about how animals are treated before they are slaughtered for meat. It also makes me eat less of it. I am very much an animal lover and it's sad to see what happens to other animals as well. Take good care Hugs, xxx

  3. Oh the poor little guys. It is sad for them. They need to be with their mamas. I stay away from veal most of the time just because it does bother me. But I do love your piece. He does look a little sad, and adding that heart was perfect! Hope its been a great weekend. Hugs-Erika

  12. I know the young bulls were probably being well looked after, but I much prefer to see them free in the fields. Your painting is fantastic, even a little sadness in his eyes, cannot stop the feeling that he is happy.

  13. Some methods of farming certainly do seem cruel! Loved seeing your photos though! Hugs Chrisx

  14. Your bull painting is precious and full of he♥rt!
Not only is eating less meat good for the animals it is healthier for humans too!
I only eat fish every now and then and if I think about that too much ... well you know.
Thank you for sharing liebe Susi oxo

  15. Oh Susi that is horrible, that 'computer rearing', so heartless.
Your wee bull looks sad too, despite the autumnal colours

  16. I thought I left a comment earlier, but I fell asleep in my chair and woke to a blank comment box.

Those poor bulls look sad, and I think about their short life and what they have to look forward to, or NOT to look forward to. I enjoyed the tour you took and loved that you shared this trip with us, because this is something I would never have seen had it not been for your trip to the bull farm.

I am really in LOVE with your young bull and his colorful heart. It's a great entry for AJJ and one that we can all relate to. Let's save that bull!

BTW, I'm with Patty because being a vegetarian is a lifestyle, and it might just save a few bulls in the end.

  22. Such kind of factory farming makes me sad too and I think the business you are showing is even one of the better ones. We've reduced our meat consumption to once or twice a week.
I love your colorful bull painting, Susi! It's gorgeous!
Ich wünsche Dir einen schönen Tag.
    Liebe Grüße
