Mixed Tuesday - this and that!

 our new theme over at
Try It On Tuesday

which means that
no digis or shop bought embellishments are allowed.

I came up with a book jacket for my current journal. I sewed babywipes together , which I collected from different projects - as I wiped acrylic colours with them.
I ironed them and sewed four of them together into a book jacket-
went on with some oilpastels to give a bit more definition which I sealed with some clear Gesso.
I then put on some white Gesso
in a heavy layer in which I scratched the years and the title.
I finally sprinkled  some splashes with black ink and green acrylic ink and scratched here and there.
Then I applied black indian ink into the scratched letters with a black Pentel brush pen.

that's the complete  book jacket- I didn't do much on the backside (here the left side)
just a bit of white Gesso.

It fits the journal very well.

And for Valerie's AJJ theme Indian Summer I have another entry today.

Mixed Media style with some stamped motifs on tissue paper that were glued on with acrylic binder.

and to join TSFT this week I  show you my mixed tea drink to bring me over the day just now.

Happy T-DAY, TIOT's and AJJ!
Thank you for visiting!

  1. wow, your handmade book jacket of baby wipes is both brilliant and beautiful. so creative and beautifully executed. your indian summer piece is also just gorgeous. i love the colors. xo

  2. Love the handmade book cover, but the SILENCE page is fantastic, love the warm colours. And the tea looks like - tea! And not like coffee! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  3. Liebe Susi,
    Lg Sadie

  4. What a fabulous cover Susi - love the randomness of the colours and the black splats and words accent the colours beautifully. The spread is fabulous too - it looks like a late summers day with that dragonfly.
Your tea must taste really interesting with all the different flavours

  5. Amazing ideas for the journal cover Susi the end result looks so beautiful.

Very warm and peaceful page for Valerie's challenge at AJJ

    Love Chrissie xx

  7. That's a lovely handmade book cover. I think I need to invest in some baby wipes, because I use hand wipes that you can't iron. Ask me how I know (grin). I am still cleaning my dedicated craft iron a year later! I really like the colors you used, and that splash of black at the end is always perfect.

Valerie's theme is certainly popular, and I simply adore your latest entry.

That tea looks wonderful, and I like that you chose different teas to add some zing to the tea. Thanks for sharing your wonderful book/journal cover, your AJJ entry, and your mixed teas with us for T this Tuesday.

  8. A beautiful page and I love your handmade journal cover.
    xxx Hazel.

  9. I love the idea of your book cover. I always feel like I am wasting baby wipes along with dryer sheets when I am done with them and just throw them away. They take color nicely. And your AJJ fall colors piece is striking. The big circles really caught me eye, and then I noticed the delicate dragonfly. Happy t day- a warm cup of tea would be good on this cold morning. :) Hugs-Erika

  10. Gorgeous Susi, I always throw the wipes away.....maybe I shouldn't now then!
    Donna xx

  11. Its a great idea to use up the baby wipes, the book cover looks fabulous.
A wonderful journal spread as well, Silence is golden.
Delicious tea, I think the blended teas would taste lovely.
    Happy T day.
    Yvonne xx

  15. I love love love your journal cover Susi, your addition of the scratches and splatters is beautiful! This is such a great way to use up those wonderful baby wipes and I have a bag of baby wipes I've kept so I may have to give this a try :-). Thank you for the inspiration! Your Indian Summer page is fantastic with it's rich colours and pretty images - the dragonfly sitting on the leaf is lovely and it speaks of calm and peacefulness! Wishing you a Happy T Day! J :-)

  16. I never thought of using wipes for a jacket cover but I guess they are sturdy enough. Beautiful cover and a great idea Susi! Your Indian summer page is a real beauty and very eye catching. Great looking teapot and assortment of teas. Happy T day!

  19. Wow!!! Beauties at their best! LOVE both the AJ pages!! And thank you for the mixed tea - looks fun! :)

  24. What a great book cover! And a wonderful idea to use the babywipes!
I do like your journal page (silence) with the cicles and the warm colours. It oozes peace.
Your tea bags are so interesting. I know they are from Lidls but we don't have those in our Lidl. We don't have nettle tea (Brennnessel) nor fennel-anis-cumin tea. Sigh... I love both.
    Happy T-Day,
