Cover with leather-spine

Maybe you remember the two panels in progress from HERE.

This  is what has become of them .
Front and back
of a cover for an Altered Book .

I used  leather for the spine that I cut from an old pair of black leather boots . The boot-shaft was very tall and I thought why not saving at least the good leather which was quite soft to reuse in a project.
I always look at the sole material too before I despose old shoes. Some soles have wonderful patterns to stamp with.

My project is linked to

Art Journal Journey

Happy new week to you!

  1. It looks great. Some shoes do have nice soles, that's true. Have a good start in the new week, hugs, Valerie

  2. You really are a queen of recycling Susi - I would never have thought to use boot leather as you have. or soles for stamping!! This should be a wonderful sturdy book. Enjoy your new week.

  3. Fantastisch!!

  4. An amazing idea Susi and great use of the old boots.

    Love Chrissie xx

  5. I've had a major meltdown on my computer, but am trying to play catch-up here. I'll visit what I've missed next. Being big on recycling, I simply adore the covers and the leather spine of your wonderful altered book.

I am SO in awe of everything you created this month. Not a day has gone by that you haven't shared something wonderful with us. You have truly inspired so many of us this month, and it's been a difficult month for the prompt, too. Just goes to show what a superb influence you are to all of us. Just wish I'd had more time to play this month, but AEDM sort of took over my life in November.

  6. Nice! I never thought of using boot or show leather but it works great. And stamping with the soles. You are very creative seeing that. I need to look better I guess. :) Love the cover and the little clasp you made. Happy new week. Hugs-Erika

  7. Grossartig. Ein wunderschöner Einband. Geheimnisvoll und vielversprechend.
    Liebste Grüße

  8. Thats a new idea to recycle shoe leather, its a great spine for your wonderful book covers.
    Yvonne xx

LG Ulrike

  11. This is so cool Susi :)
The last few days I've been starting the day with a cup of tea in bed and watching youtube videos about altered books, junk journals and smash books - I had no real idea what they were before and now understand the difference.
I love your altered book using the left over leather for the spine - brilliant!
    Gill xx

  12. These covers are sublime, the first is a real favourite and would make a great large picture to hang on the wall, I think, maybe poster size. Just imagine it. I love the rough stripes of the blues.

  13. This is fantastic and what great reuse. You are so clever. xox

  14. This looks great! What a great way to recycle! Hugs, Chrisx
