2252 ○○○ Animals from A to Z

Elizabeth and I are proud to present Rike as our host this month
Rike is my very only Austrian compariot blogger friend who is also an Art Journaler. She has chosen "Animals from A-Z" as our theme for February. I try to improve my drawing skills and started frequently drawing sessions this year - just very quick sketches on cheap paper. This horse is such an example of a very quick drawing session. Looks like a 5 year old had drawn it - but I show it to you regardless. Skill comes with practice!

The text: When I look into the eyes of an animal I do not see an animal. I see a friend. I see a soul. A.D. Williams

I have made a big step further this year - I stopped  eating meat.  No more of  eating my friends. I am sorry about my cruel self and that it took me 54 years of my life  to finally  arrive at this decision.

Elizabeth, Rike and I  hope to see many of you this month again at
Art Journal Journey .Thanx to all of the wonderful people at the challenge, without you Art Journal Journey would never work out!

  2. What a fantastic tribute to Rike's theme. I am so in awe of her art and she AND YOU are such fantastic artists, sketchers, and drawing experts. I am in love with your horse. You may think it looks like a five year old made it, but I don't. I think it is fabulous. And you come up with the greatest quotes, too. In fact, I'm surprised you haven't filled your daily calendar with quotes.

I'm going to love this theme, Susi, and I see both of us having so much fun with it this month. Your lovely horse is a great first entry for Art Journal Journey.

So glad to read you have stopped eating meat. I do it at home, but I find it's hard when out and about, because there are NO vegetarian places in my city and very few vegetarian choices on most buffets.

  8. This is such a beautiful page Susi, the horse is fabulous and the words are lovely. A few years ago I gave up meat - I kept it up for two years and often think about giving it up again.

  9. Loving your horse Susi. I have to practice drawing animals too. It's not so easy to draw them. I was trying to draw one yesterday-a woodchuck, and after 5 tries it still looks like a mouse. :) And good for you to stop eating meat. I eat a little meat a couple of times a week, and sometimes I think I should just stop, but I do like my metload on occasion. :) Happy February. Hugs-Erika

  11. Susi, your drawing of the horse looks fantastic, you are very hard on yourself, you are an amazing artist. You chose lovely words to go with this page as well.
Well done for stopping to eat meat, its good to be aware of where our food comes from.
Yes I am a meat eater, but as I have got older it features less on my table and vegetarian food is very tasty, we eat more this way as time goes by.

  13. Good morning, I love your horse-and it does not look like a child drew this at all-I know if I tried it would look like a child's art for sure haha
I was a vegetarian for many years but through my process it got down to the point I could not eat any thing, as if I ate the total fruit or vegetable with out saving the seeds and planting I killed that too-so for me the process was difficult
    but I understand

  26. Fabulous horse drawing and page Susi and I agree with others that it does not look like a child drew it at all.
Well done for becoming vegetarian - we have several vegetarian meals a week with one or two fish or meat (mainly chicken) meals. I'm not sure I could be totally vegetarian - but who knows, maybe one day.

  28. It's funny, Susi, how we sometimes don't see our own paintings. When I saw this horse I thought how amazingly skilfully it was drawn and painted, it shows the gentleness of this horse. It has such a lovely face.

  29. It so does NOT look like a five-year-old drew it, Susi. It's awesome! Good luck with no meat diet. I could not do it for long, but some can! xoxo

  31. Wow your horse is awesome..not like a 5 year old...love the hair swooped over. We had cut down on meat completely the last few years, now enjoy an 80 percent plant based diet here! My daughter has learned to cook completely different because of it..the food is still all amazing! Good for you going all the way!

    Peace Giggles
