2263 - Think Of Spring

We start a new theme over at Moo Mania & More today:

THINK OF SPRING

I have bound a little journal for a blogger friend who starts Art Journaling .

I started with decoupaging one of the beautiful napkins I got from lovely Yvonne recently onto a plastic packaging.

I sewed around and then decided to make it more durable by
gluing a strip of cardstock there where the spine was supposed to be  to reinforce the spine....

Fabric and even lace was added...

 And all was sewn together.

4 holes to hold the elastic for the signatures exactly where the reinforced spine is.

Put the elastic through the holes and added two buttons,

Added the first signature

and a second signature.

Enough pages for my friend

and she will be able to remove pages that are not to her likeness.

Already nice but I needed white to be happy...

 much better ...

My friend told me that she likes her Journal!

♥♥♥

And of course I will link the journal project  to Rike's
Animals from A to Z
theme over at

Art Journal Journey

I will link my journal also to the

  3. This is adorable. I love the paper and fabric and how you painted and sewed your way to a beautiful journal for your friend. I am in awe of your sewing skills. I never pin anything, so could never make anything this beautiful. I am in AWE!!! It's so different from any journal I've seen put together before. Really clever. It's a stunning entry for Rike's theme at Art Journal Journey, dear friend and co-admin.

    Begeisterte Rike ♥♥♥

  12. Oh my goodness, talk about pure class you have. Class and style and I just love this. Clever use of the napkins and I don't think I have ever seen such beautiful ones as I have unless visiting here and a few other ladies associated with you...just stunning.xx[aNNie' blog]

  13. Liebe Susi,

    Wolfgang

  14. Wow Susi! That is one amazing journal. I love the cover. Yvonne finds the most beautiful napkins, doesn't she? And I think you are really clever to use that piece of foam. Who else would have thought of that? Not me. It makes a great flexible cover though, and you didn't waste it. You have the best ideas and are a good friend for sure. Happy Wednesday. Hugs-Erika

  21. When I saw the first photo I could not think how you had made this, so thanks a lot for the photos of the process. I thought it looked marvellous but then I see what you mean about adding some white, it does give it an extra something, a spark maybe. I would never have imagined how a napkin, however lovely, could turn into a sturdy journal cover.
Lucky, lucky friend and I hope we will see her art journalling one day?
