ART FOR ART'S SAKE (2313)

We have had a  blast last month at AJJ and I want to say thank you to all the participants and to Gill, who visited everybody and commented all entries and inspired us with a plethora of amazing pages during the whole month! Today with the start of July we start a new topic at
Art Journal Journey
and our host this month is the
marvellous mixed media artist Chris - better know as
Pearshaped Chris, a name that connects her with her blog Pearshapedcrafting
Her theme for this month is:

ART FOR ART'S SAKE

So hop over to ART JOURNAL JOURNEY to learn more about our new theme and have a look at Chris' example page for us.

I currently feel a craving for using natural materials to create collages. You will see a lot of this kind of collages this month from me. It's absolutely relaxing to play with the materials and mix them with collage, handmade papers and paint and doing a bit of hand- and machinestitching as well on them.

I will hopefully bind this collages into a journal in the end .
Unfortunately, I can't promise if I really bring it to a happy journal ending, but at least it's on my plan.
But for now I just play with the pages - just

ART FOR ART'S SAKE
for me...

Talking of BINDING the lovely words of Deb Caletti occured to me :
We are thickly layered, page lying upon page, behind simple covers. And love - it is not the book itself, but the binding.

and so I decided to reshow my
little blue booklet - video
tomorrow
for
where we cast  a second look at an older piece of us

I really hope to see you at the challenges and that you decide to play along with us again!
Always such a pleasure when you participate !

Much
LOVE
from
Susi

  7. I’m loving what I see, Susi. You are right, Art is everywhere. I never thought of people as being in layers, but yes, we are! I love that you are using natural materials. The sources are endless, in the layers of our planet. Inspiration for making art is everywhere, enjoy!

  10. I really love the simplicity of your pages today Susi. The simplicity equals such stunning beauty. And it like how you used bits from plants. Perfect for summer. I also loved seeing the blue journal again too. Sounds like you have had some art fun lately and I have some pages all ready to show us. :) Can't wait to see them. We are still very hot and I have an antsy husband. It is either go out in the heat or sit inside where it is cool. I don't blame him, I hate being stuck inside with all the windows closed so we can stay cool. Time for this heat to break a bit and go back to being beautiful summer weather. Hope you are having a great weekend. Hugs-Erika

  13. Your art is such an inspiration to me. First, I am in awe of the nature inspired theme you are going for. This is a wonderful spread and I am inspired to seek out some pieces from my garden so I can create something similar to what you made. Imitation is the greatest flattery of all. This is a wonderful spread, and so unique for Chris's theme. I love your take on her theme, which I interpreted SO differently. And then there's the sewing. It's been so hot in my craft room, I haven't wanted to sew, but I really want to sew again. Thanks for inspiring me in that way, too.

Of course, that leads to the second on the 2nd, which is your little sewn book. It is TINY. It is certainly filled with love, and the way you manipulated the words and images just made my heart sing.

As your co-admin, I thank you for this beautiful first entry at Art Journal Journey, and as your host at Second on the 2nd, I applaud your video of your beautiful, yet tiny book of layers of love.

I hope I will be able to join in when I get home. It is the internet provider here that is blocking me out.

  17. Hello my friend. LOVE how you used the natural leaves on your page. reminded me of a visit to the first colony site in the US and they had books on display in cases where artist who came with them had walked around and had drawn the different flowers and trees they encountered and gave them names, so very interesting.

    Hugs
