2307 ***** FOR THE BOYS

A new theme over at our challenge blog TRY IT ON TUESDAY.
I hope you will hop over to TioT and check the wonderful examples of my teamies and hopefully you will join in the fun.
The idea for the spread in my blue journal came to mind as I saw the June  photo on our local calendar, a gift  from our mayor and the town hall.

It was a photo of the gymnastics club of Kirchberg in 1930.

The photo of all the lovely little boys gave me food for thought. And in the end I decided to be inspired enough to scan the calender and play with outprints of the boys. The outprints turned out kind of pinkish - not very appropriate to a boy-themed page - but I didn't bother about it. I will also link this spread to
Gill's INSPIRED BY... theme over at
as I was inspired by our calendar photo.

Last but not least I am wishing a happy T-Day to all at TSFT.
I have a new favourite drink for hot days -
lavender and ginger infused with fresh plain water.
Very refreshing.

Much
LOVE
from
Susi

  3. Fabulous spread, Susi - absolutely amazing! I thought it was a pinkish sepia, so you surprise me... amazing how colours on monitors differ. Love the way you used the images - and using the images in the first place was an absolute brainwave! Very clever.

  5. It is a fantastic journal spread Susi and your way of altering the inspiring calendar page looks wonderful. I think it looks a wonderful vintage style page and the boys must have had stories where they all hoped to become hero's.
Happy T day wishes, your drink sounds refreshing and delicious for warm days.

  7. What a great image you have used Susi, so glad you saved it and put it to good use. Old photographs have so much character and the wash around it makes those sweet faces smile even more.
Happy T Day the infused water sounds most delicious.

  8. Love the way you have adapted the photo and used it on your spread Susi - you are really clever with the computer. That drink sounds wonderful - I enjoy both lavender and ginger, but would not have thought to combine them.

  9. I think nothing is better than some cool water on a summery day. It really quenches your thirst, doesn't it? I have been drinking a lot of it lately too. You also got a great free image in that calendar. You made a super page for the boys. I like the way you can't tell it was from the photo since you cut all the faces apart. Very clever. Have a great T day my friend. Hugs-Erika

  19. I am in love with your journal spread, Susi. Personally, I think the pinkish color adds to the vintage look and feel the spread conveys. I really like how you cut the calendar up, too. Cutting circles made it appear the boys were possibly in an old yearbook. It was yet another great addition to Art Journal Journey, too.

Your lavender and ginger infused water sounds great. My lavender has never bloomed, but I may use some of the "leaves." Thanks for sharing your recipe and drink with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

  21. I love how you used the calendar photo as inspiration for this beautiful page! Teaming up the photo with the numbers that you stamped, washi tape and stitching is perfect. I like the way you graduated the washi tape along the top and bottom edges and the quote is so inspirational :-). Your new drink sounds very refreshing too! Wishing you a very wonderful new week and Happy T Day! J x

  22. Happy Tuesday Susi,
your spread is wonderful,- --I love that pinkish tone, even it is boys , and the texture you added, give a more raw feeling to it, together with the black doodled circles, and sewing. A gorgeous vintage feeling .
Also your drink sounds lovely, and fresh- thank you dear for showing.

  24. I love your take on the masculine theme, Susi. Great masculine quote and layout. I wasn't bothered by the pink tint. It makes the photos look vintage. And the creamy yellow you added balances the pink out nicely.

    Using the calendar was brilliant.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  26. Fabulous page Susi - the colour is nice its not a pinky-pink but sort of vintage/sepia looking.
I love the calender and how you used it. 'Kirchberg' caught my eye as I thought it was the same place that some of Daves ancestors came from, but of course I realised you are in Austria so I had to look it up - so I've learnt there is another Kirchberg in Germany.
Thanks for the lovely comments you left me earlier - It's been a great month so far and I'm learning all sorts of things which is wonderful. (and on my to do list, I still have to read that link you gave about Thich Nhat Hanh )
Hope you've had a good day.

  30. Lavender and ginger infused water sounds yummy. I just planted some lavender and I would love to find a use for it. Do you infuse the flowers?
Your journal page is so vintage. All the faces are so perfect. My favorite though is that washi tape along the edge. Great journal layout, Susi!
